DBC Race Team Mailing Lists

The Davis Bike Club Racing Team hosts two types of mailing lists -- public and team.

Anyone may subscribe to the public list (you must be subscribed in order to post a message):

To join the following private team lists, you must

  1. Be a DBC member and be racing for DBC this season. Subscriptions must be approved by the moderator.
  2. If you are not currently a member of DBC or recently joined (it may take up to six weeks for your application to be processed), send a message to the webmaster and let him know when you submitted your DBC membership form and fee.
  3. Also, let the webmaster know which mailing lists you'd like to subscribe or sign up for them yourself by clicking the appropriate links below.

Background

The race team mailing lists have an easy web interface that makes it simple to manage your mailing list subscriptions.

When you join the race team, you will be subscribed to the "team" and "dbcrace" lists automatically. Thus, both the team and dbcrace lists includes everyone racing for DBC. The dbcrace list is different from the team list because it is the only list that is open to the public -- anyone may subscribe. Dbcrace is for general discussion of bike racing while the team list is typically used for team business. The other private lists (see above) are for discussions specific to specific race categories/teams.

The dbcrace list is a superset of all other lists and will reach the most people. It's the best place to advertise your bike parts, solicit ride partners, etc. The team list is a superset of all other DBC member lists, i.e., masters, juniors, women, and all other categories. Unless you want people to receive multiple copies of your message, there is no reason to send things to both team and masters, team and juniors, or dbcrace and team.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is it possible to send photos (etc.) to a mailing list?

A: Yes, but if you have more than one or two pictures, it is best to load them into the race team gallery or your own. If you'd like to send a picture (or any file) to a mailing list, you must make sure that the total file size is less than 200 KB. If you're not sure how to do this, click here.

Q: How can I review old messages for a list?

A: All messages for each list are archived. You may access the archives here. Click on the team link and then the "archives" link on the next page. You will be prompted for your password. If you don't remember your password, the system will send it to you -- scroll down to the bottom of the page and type your email address into the box next to the "Unsubscribe or edit options" button. On the next page, click the "Remind" button. Your password will be sent to your email account.

Q: How can I find out who is subscribed to a particular mailing list?

A: You may view a subscriber list by going here. Click on the team link and then the "Visit Subscriber List" link on the next page. If you don't remember your password, follow the directions in the previous answer. Subscriber lists are only available to list members.
